Being able to upgrade SFX.DAT to newest format!

Is there any more news on this front? It is still the only thing stopping me from replaying the Castle haunt quests and a couple other quests, they just aren't the same without the intended sound fx and old versions of ZC (2.10 and older) tend to not work too well for me under Vista and newer Windows operating systems. I don't believe there's a new sfx.dat editor either so it's not possible for the quest author to just recreate the sfx.dat in the new format (If they still had the sound fx files on hand).
    Computer specifications:
    Windows 10 Pro x64 | Intel Core i7 @ 2.66GHZ | Asus P6T Motherboard | 6GB DDR3 RAM | Integrated Sound | Nvidia Geforce 560 Ti 2048MB PCI-E | Corsair AX760 Power Supply | Thermaltake Armor+ MX case

AFAIK, the way that sounds are handled has radically changed from 2.1x. The internalisation of sounds to the .qst file, and the changes to the file format, and the methods of playing audio, are entirely different. I know that Gleeok is making a modular audio library though (GLPL), so modifying that may be possible in the future.

Changing SFX is one thing I miss from 2.1x; primarily due to people using the 'screaming child Link' sounds for attack/injury sounds. It's a prime motivator not to play games, that would otherwise be fantastic, as it kills my ears to hear that 'haah, ahhh, yaah' scream every three seconds. (I'll admit to hacking games, just to change that one facet, for my own use; in particular for the preservation of my ears, and the remainder of my sanity.)
