I recently purchased a smart phone.
To enable me to easier view the forums on the go I installed a hack that detects when the forums are being viewed on a mobile device and will automatically force a mobile-friendly theme.
If any of you are using mobile devices to browse, it should automatically detect you are and then force the mobile theme.

Cool! I don't own an internet phone, but still cool!

Sounds awesome.
I'm curious, though; how does the forum know whether it's being viewed on a mobile device?

I need to figure out Verizon's data plans before I start browsing though.

It determines it based on your web browser I believe.

The Motorola Q9m. I checked out all of Verizon's smart phones and decided upon it after it was all over. I'm pleased with the purchase thus far, especially after a few software downloads. I have the unlimited web, e-mail, and data plan. Are you paying per megabyte or whatever?

That looks snazzy. What version of Windows Mobile is that running? And as of now, I don't have net on the phone. But I know I'm not gonna be downloading enough on my phone to make unlimited worthwhile. But I don't want to get stuck with 10 bullshit MB a month either.

It's Windows Mobile 6.
I really needed MS Office and E-Mail. The internet is just a magical side effect.
Between Live Search (http://livesearchmobile.com/) (Bad ass free download) to checking the net anywhere I'm at, the data plan is totally worth it. I also just found, but haven't tried Shadow Of Legend (http://www.shadowoflegend.com/)
If you don't want the unlimited data, did you just get the phone for texting?

Hey WL, are you able to add an option to go to the regular version of the forums if you're on a mobile? The regular version is much easier to use on an iPhone/iPod Touch than this version, so having that option would be great.

Done.
It should default to the Classic Nintendo on an iPhone.

Awesome. You're the man WL ;)
(btw, regular themes worked fine before. It seems to be locked into Classic Nintendo even if you try to change the style now)

I could probably appreciate this if I even had a phone period, but still, this is awesome. Though, I had somebody go to AGN on a phone (no, it wasn't Pineconn_lolz), and it looked fine then.

I got it because of the deal I got on it, and because I just wanted a solid well built phone. And the PDA aspect is helpful here and there.

The only use for a smart phone is to put porn on it.

When I try to view the forums at work (naturally, only possible using a web proxy, NinjaCloak (http://www.ninjacloak.com) to be specific) the mobile theme comes up by default. I also can't log in. I forget the specific error message I get.
The work computers have IE6 installed on them. I understand any problems may not be with the forums, but with our neutered computers.
Since I now work at a VZW store, I get to play with all their Blackberries and smartphones quite a bit. I like the Q9m a lot. Once my AT&T contract is up I'll either get that or a Blackberry Curve. For now I still have my BlackJack 2.

I recently broke down and got a BlackBerry Storm (paying a hefty ETF to AT&T in the process). The forums work fine on it. The Storm has a full HTML browser so I actually have a choice between mobile and regular. I go with the mobile theme, it's much faster and easier to use, obv.
/not making this post on my Storm but have posted previously with it...
The unlimited data and e-mail plan at VZW is $30/month. That doesn't include texting. If you want unlimited texting and the minimum amount of anytime minutes (450) you're looking at about $90 before taxes per month.

Blackberry Curve seems to work just fine as well. Only thing that I run into as a problem is that the mobile version seems limited, but I'm guessing that it is supposed to be for quicker load times. (Much faster than pureZC).
